With the mild sunlight of a fine morning, TDC started with the pre-stated first procedure; registration & the very important thing to start a day; breakfast. With all the participants, mentors, volunteers & all other stakeholders registered, the formal session officially started with the arrival of the chief guest, Honorable Member of Provincial Assembly, Gandaki Province Mr. Bindu Kumar Thapa.
The chairman of the program was the Executive Director of UrjaLab, Mr. Bibek Sapkota and the special guest was Mr. Mani Lamichhane, Province Head, Nepal Tourism Board. All the mentors with specific session were also seated on the dais. Like every other formal ceremony, the program officially started with lightening up the panas by the Chief guest Mr. Thapa, Chairman of the ceremony Mr. Sapkota and all other mentors. Then the national song was also sung in order to show respect to the nation & motherland. Then after, the speech introduction session started.
Representing the organizing team; Mr. Binayak Poudel, co-founder of UrjaLab gave the welcome speech. He welcomed all the participants, mentors, volunteers & all other stakeholders in TDC 2019. He said, “I believe that after the end of this program, everyone present here will at least learn something that will help in digitalizing the tourism sector and will help to contribute something to make Visit Nepal 2020 a grand success.”
Then after the introduction session of the mentors & their session started.
One of the mentors for TDC, Mr. Kshitij Baral, center manager of Yunus Social Business Center introduced his session. He also expressed his gratitude to the organizers for providing a platform where one can learn many ideas for upgrading the tourism business & uplifting the industry.
After that, Co-founder of Mandala IT Solution, Ms. Pratima Sharma introduced about her session. She stated about a fact that tourism if merged with IT, will obviously help to upgrade the tourism outreach. She said, “TDC will let the world know that Nepal has a lot of tourism destinations where Pokhara will be a very good hub for the tourist.”
Other personalities like Sanjay Gautam, Managing Director of Himalayan Java Pokhara; Mr. Surendra Pariyar, Executive Director & Founder Chair at Bahini Educare Foundation; Mr. Ashok Poudel, Founder of Pahal Group; also expressed gratitude to the Tourism Digitalization Challenge Team.
31 selective participants from the different nook of the country are competing at the Tourism Digitalization Challenge 2019.
